What Will Survive Of Us – A Series of Four Illustrations

I’m delighted to share a series of four illustrations created in collaboration with Millie van der Byl West for her creative review of What Will Survive of Us, a powerful project by Kit Green on designing your creative will, commissioned by Entelechy Arts.

To shape this series, Millie conducted interviews with participants, facilitators, and staff to uncover the core themes that emerged from the workshops. Together, we reviewed these conversations to identify the four key elements that stood out—each forming the foundation for an illustration. Translating the deeply personal moments and reflections from this workshop series into visual form has been a privilege. Each illustration explores a unique theme that emerged from the workshops, capturing the voices and experiences of participants in bold and heartfelt imagery.

1. Exploring Legacy

The first illustration introduces the series, reflecting on the deeply personal ideas shared throughout the workshops. It sets the tone for the project, celebrating the diverse ways in which participants envision their creative legacies.

2. Uncovering Self-Discovery

Many participants found that the workshops helped them uncover new aspects of themselves. This illustration highlights moments of self-realization, weaving together quotes and lived experiences to show how the project encouraged deep personal reflection.

3. Facilitating Connection

A defining aspect of What Will Survive of Us was the meaningful connections formed between participants, facilitators, and staff. This illustration focuses on those relationships, particularly drawing inspiration from the Queer Circle workshops, where shared experiences fostered a strong sense of community.

4. Legacy is Alive

The final illustration encapsulates the evolving understanding of legacy that took shape throughout the project. It emphasizes the idea that legacy is not just about what we leave behind but how we shape and carry it forward in the present.

A heartfelt thank you to Millie van der Byl West for inviting me to be part of this inspiring journey. To learn more about What Will Survive of Us and create your own creative will, visit the Legacy 6 website.
